Somatic Embodywork™
Somatic Embodywork™ is the most recent iteration of my work. In my almost 25 years of experience working in the healing arts, I have always strived to grow, learn, and evolve, both as a human and a healing arts practitioner. This is my new evolutionary edge.
I have come to understand more deeply just how important the body is in our healing journey; we truly cannot heal, be well, or live fully without the participation of our body and its physiology. We cannot push past our survival responses - as much as we may want something, if it feels unsafe to our brain and body, our brain will block us from doing whatever it is, no matter how much we want it.
We must work with our brain and our body to cultivate a sense of inner safety, expanding our capacity for more good, more peace, and more of what we want in life to come our way. Thankfully, somatic healing makes this possible.
My Specialty
I specialize in helping women to heal from the physical, mental, emotional, energetic, and spiritual disharmonies and fragmentation created by unhealed grief and trauma. Over time, that which we have not acknowledged wreaks havoc on our nervous systems, our bodies, our sense of well-being, and our relationships with others. Our disconnection from our bodies keeps us from living fully in the present moment.
I help my clients to regulate their nervous systems, feel safe in their bodies, and come home to what is real and true in the present moment. I teach my clients nervous system regulation skills, how to prioritize their needs, feel safe and good in their bodies, and how to create boundaries that work for them so they can reap the rewards of healthy relationships with themselves and others.
Somatic Embodywork Signature Sessions™
My Somatic Embodywork™ signature session is a combination of the most powerful healing practices that I have utilized in my 24 years of work in the healing arts. These sessions are available in person and include Somatic Experiencing®, bodywork, energy medicine, shamanic soul and power retrieval, parts work, mindfulness practice, SE Touch, divine feminine and archetypal healing, nature-based healing practices, sound healing, and cord-cutting.
How I Came Up With the Name Somatic Embodywork™
Somatic - The word “soma” is a Greek word meaning “body,” and “somatic” means “of the body.”
Bodywork - Massage therapy, manual therapies, and hands-on healing that is applied to the body for healing.
Embody or Embodiment - To embody is to express something through the body or physical form. To embody is to embrace, express, or personify. If you embody something, you LIVE it. Embodiment is integration, lived wisdom. Without embodiment, things are simply concepts or ideas. With embodiment, we become what we know - it is knowledge applied, which is wisdom vs. empty knowledge without application or embodiment, which isn’t worth much in the long run.
The embodiment piece of healing is the most crucial part, as it allows us to integrate all of the healing work we have done, helping us to live our lives from a place of true empowerment.
Somatic Embodiment - a therapeutic approach that focuses on the connection between the mind and the body, and uses our physical sensations to heal chronic stress and trauma
Somatic Embodywork™ - a therapeutic approach that focuses on helping you to deepen the connection between your mind and body so that you can feel more embodied and empowered in your life.
My Mission
My mission is to offer trauma-informed care to my clients that offers a doorway into whatever stage of healing you are currently in. I offer holistic healing, working at the level of body, mind, spirit, and energy, to assist you in transforming your life so that you may have greater access to your life energy, wholeness, vitality, and resilience. While all of the work I do is somatic in nature, my work with Somatic Experiencing® is the most powerful work that I offer since it works at the deepest level - that of our physiology.
If you have questions about what path to take in our work together, please reach out. I also encourage folks who are new to working with me and are unsure about some of my work to start with something that is familiar, like integrative massage, and then, if you are interested in doing deeper work together, we can do so once you are ready.
I look forward to supporting you in your healing journey.
