The Separate Self
The illusory, separate self
can only ever feel not enough,
because it is separate from
Its source,
which is pure consciousness.
It is separate from the truth.
The false self is a mirage,
a concept,
an ephemeral,
ever-changing landscape
of energy,
beliefs,
Ideas,
thoughts,
notions,
opinions,
preferences,
stories,
and experiences,
and stored up, tactile sensations
and constricted energy
from unprocessed past traumas
and untended grief.
This limited,
fearful,
separate self
is not who we are,
but who we mistake ourselves to be.
Who we truly are is
the unchanging,
always abiding
present moment awareness,
the sacred witness
to the interplay of form
in the outer world.
