You Are Not In Charge
Watch what you say and do,
Your actions and words carry weight.
They have an effect,
That is not always great.
Be aware of the subtle
and not-so-subtle ways
That you tell others
To not be who they are.
Watch out for the ways
That you try to control
The way others express themselves,
Demanding that they speak the way you want,
Act in ways that you prefer,
Insisting that others be the way you want them to be,
Encouraging them to bury vital parts of themselves,
Including their opinions, feelings, preferences, and beliefs,
Just so that you can feel more comfortable.
You do not run the world.
You do not get to dictate
What others do and don’t do,
Or how they do it.
You Are Not In Charge.
Instead, learn to deal with your own challenging emotions
That might arise when others say and do things
That you do not like or agree with,
And stop your blatant disregard
For the needs, ideas, and preferences of others
and how they choose to live their lives.
You act like a child with your tantrums
When you demand that other people do things
In a way that makes you feel better.
That Is Not Your Right.
You Are Not In Charge.
Instead of trying to dominate and control
How others speak and act,
Learn to deal with your own challenging emotions.
Watch what you say and do,
Your actions and words carry weight,
They have an effect
That is not always great.
