Somatic Experiencing is a body-centered therapeutic healing modality created by Dr. Peter Levine. This internationally recognized approach focuses on helping you release stored tension, stress, energy, and trauma that are held in the body.
If your nervous system is dysregulated, you may feel overwhelmed, anxious, stressed, angry, depressed, or shut down. In our work together, the goal is to achieve emotional regulation, which helps you to be more able to manage the stresses of daily life without being overwhelmed. Through our work together I help you become literate in reading the signs of your body so you can feel more embodied, and empowered, experience life beyond survival mode, build confidence to advocate for your needs, have agency over your life, and build a strong and resilient sense of self that enables you to move through the ever-changing tides of life with ease.
Somatic Experiencing is designed to assist people in developing a higher level of tolerance for intense and painful emotions and physical sensations. The more the client can learn to navigate the ever-changing tides of life and sensation, the more capacity and agency they have access to in their lives. Somatic Experiencing helps the client to reclaim their vital life force energy so they can move forward in an empowered and unhindered way.
How I Work:
I combine the foundational work of Somatic Experiencing with practices taken from my 24 years of healing practice, including: shamanic soul and power retrieval, connection to your inner resources, mindfulness practice, guided meditation and visualization, parts work, and inner child work. Sessions are tailored to your unique needs each time we meet.
